That’s not what I expected

This was based on the assignment found here (http://assignments.ds106.us/assignments/thats-not-what-i-expected/). I thought this would be interesting given how different certain things would look so close up rather than through the perspective we as humans are used to seeing. Here is my object.

If you could not guess what it was, it was the smooth finger grip from a game controller. With the flash and that proximity it almost looks like a wall or a crayon to me.

“Who am I?”

I decided to pick the assignment ‘ That’s not what I expected” for the first required visual task.  The assignment was to take a close up a picture and have people guess what it is. The assignment was rated 3 stars which was accurate. This assignment seemed easy at first because I thought all you had to do was take close up of the picture and you would be done. Wrong! I first had to pick an object that would be really simple but hard to find out. The hard part was taking the close up of the picture which my phone did not want to do. It keep becoming blurry and I could not see the picture at all. This process took a good 10 minutes than it need to be. So finally I decided to take a picture of the whole object and crop the part I want to become the close up and I had finished the assignment.

I know people can not get the object by looking a the picture so I decided to give you guys three hints:

Who am I?

I am part of the bird family

Who am I?

Depending on the area, I may wake you up in the morning

who am I

I am very territorial

so Who am I ?

Agent Smith – Close up

Fellow spy’s…I need your….help. I was send the location of the next base I need to…infiltrate, but it is too close up to make out what it is! Whoever took this picture should be…f…fired! Can you guess what this is? Agent Smith, signing off.

I Spy

I took this picture for the “That’s Not What I Expected” assignment. The goal of this assignment is to take a macro photograph and to get someone to guess what it is. The picture can be of anything so there is a lot of room for creativity. I really liked the idea of this assignment because I am a photographer and macro photography is my favorite type of photography. Macro photographs can look abstract and mysterious. Good macro photos are actually more complicated than you might think. There’s more to it than taking a close up picture of something random. For example, you could take a close up picture of a wall, but it would be a very boring picture. At the same time you don’t want to give it away. It took me awhile to find a good object to take an interesting picture of for this assignment. Comment with your guesses!

What is That?

This is my response to the That’s Not What I Expected assignment. I had to take a close up shot of an object in a way that it is difficult to guess what that object is. Can you guess what this is? The hardest part of this assignment was getting a decent picture when zoomed in super close. I ended up having to take the photo from a farther zoom and then cropping it.

Week 3 pt. 1: Up Close and Personal

For this assignment (entitled That’s Not What I Expected), I was tasked with taking a close-up picture of an object, while leaving that object a mystery.

Guess the Thing Part 1

For this assignment I had to take a close-up picture of something and have people guess what it is. Can you guess what this is?

Media Assignment #2

This was a visual assignment the required to take a close up of something and making it unrecognizable. This actually took quite a bit of effort because I didn’t want to just take a close up of whatever and be done with it. So I took pictures of items that I owned that I thought were neat and decided to pick the most unique one. When I make myself not realize what it really is, it looks like one of those crazy kaleidoscopes. Can anyone guess what this is?

Do You See What I See?

Do you see the hope that comes with being small next to the ocean? Do you think of the world beneath the surface or the sheer power the waves can bring as they crash against the shore? Perhaps, I was drawn to taking this picture because I am currently feeling out of my depth. How will I ever figure out digital storytelling?

This is my first blog post, my first time putting my thoughts and creativity out into a public space. The word daunting comes to mind and being around water has always been offered a relaxing space of reflection. My hope is the turquoise image will serve as a reminder that I can step into new arenas and rise to the challenge of learning in a digital space.

So tell me, what to do you see in this image?
