I chose to do this Web Assignment because I absolutely LOVE designing and decorating homes! I basically live on Pinterest, so this assignment gave me so much excitement! My color pallet would be one of the two: grey, white and yellow… or grey, peach and gold. If I went with the yellow, sunflowers are my favorite! I also love astrology, so I would incorporate moons, suns and stars as well. And lots of bookshelves for my huge collection! There would also be string lights throughout because they are magical. Now I really need my own space so I can actually follow through. Which color pallet should I chose? Help!
When we’re little we have BIG imaginations. I believe every child has played pretend at some point or another. Playing pretend includes some kind of fantasy world that can consist of pirates, spaceships, super heroes, princesses, and more. Not that our imaginations evaporate with age, our minds however are introduced to reality. We tend to stray away from “make-believe”.
When I was young my pretend consisted of rummaging through old magazines my mom didn’t want anymore and creating my dream life. I would dive into these magazines and cut out any home, room, closet, bathroom, car, vacation, ring, etc. that I wanted. There was no limit, if I wanted it I got it. Of course this was merely just pretend and when I was done cutting and gluing together my masterpiece I moved on with my day and did it again the next week. This pretend I had when I was a kid is what helped me pick out my third and final assignment this week.
My last assignment this week came from the web assignment bank. I then decided on the assignment create your own room due to my nostalgia from my childhood. I had so much fun playing pretend and making my dream life I figured this would be something similar. The assignment asked…
Ever thought of creating your own dream room? Now you can! Using pinterest find rooms, furniture, colors etc. From there write a blog post about why you chose everything! This is your dream so make it as crazy and out of the box that you can think of!
I love Pinterest. So when the assignment said pull your inspiration and photos from there I was thrilled. My familiarity with the site certainly helped me navigate creating my room.
I spent hours on Pinterest looking for the right images to capture my dream room. The above four are what I came up with. Based on what I selected my taste screams modern. I wanted a larger room so that I could have a massive bathroom and walk in closet in. The colors I wanted to base my room off of consist of black and marble. I love the clean look of it all.
In the bedroom photo and closet photo you can see that there are huge glass windows with what seems like the city skyline in the background. I chose this on purpose because I want to eventually live in a city, preferably New York City. I felt it was fitting to have by bedroom over look one or sit right on top of one.
I believe younger me would be proud of my selection when it came to picking out my dream room. I went for big but not overly extravagant. I didn’t necessarily emphasize the things in my dream room more so I wanted to emphasize the space. Being older now “things” don’t mater as much anymore. Overall I just wanted a room that was much bigger and more elegant than the one I have. Pinterest was incredibly easy to work with however I was struggling to embed the images into this post. That being said I decided to save and upload the images separately which was an easier and time saving process.
Even though I am older and have been exposed to reality I am glad I was still able to tap into my imagination and play pretend again.
Create Your Dream Vacation On Pinterest! 3 1/2 Stars
My dream vacation would be going to beaches around the world. I believe beaches are a very calming and relaxing place to visit. This is a collection of pictures of beaches all around the world. Plenty of different furniture styles for groups gatherings and also some alone time seating. I have also included a few pictures of fun foods and interesting drinks. This board really makes me want to take a trip to the beach.
This is the link to my Pinterest board. Its all about vacations at the beach and some fun beach foods.
I created a sewing room. It will have to be a huge room because I have a lot of items on this board. I have picked out wall decorations with a sewing theme, buttons and framed patterns. Plenty of storage options to hold all of the wonderful sewing gadgets and beautiful fabrics.A selection of tables to stretch out my projects, I like plenty table room to lay my projects on. I still need to find some furniture, maybe a small sitting area for hand work or a mini kitchen. I hope you enjoy looking at my Dream Sewing Room.
This is a fun and interesting way to draw. My drawing skills are not the greatest on the laptop. I might have done a little better if I had used a computer mouse. This is something i have done a lot of, its a fun way to be creative without the creative mess. I will definitely use this website in my classroom. It is fun for any age. Thanks Google Draw!!
For this assignment, we were tasked with creating our own room using Pinterest. With the help of Pinterest, I was able to find different things that I liked and save it as “Home” which I can use and reference at a later time. I have different design elements for different areas of my future home but I have more pins for master bedroom ideas than other room ideas.
I was browsing Pinterest and found a few pins that I added to my “Home” board to design my future master bedroom #ds106pic.twitter.com/koBgzaMVZ4
My board doesn’t necessarily target one key idea. Instead, each pin kind of represents a little piece of a design element that I may want to tie in with another design element. I am currently highly interested in tufted head boards and would love to have one to fit my King size or a California King size bed frame in my future home. I am very big on storage, I have a lot of things and having adequate storage can help my room to stay clean and organized without looking too cluttered. For this reason, end tables on both sides of the bed and two dressers, one tall and one long. At the foot of the bed, I would love to have an upholstered storage bench which would double as storage and a seat. I imagine that I will have a lot of space in my master bedroom. To make use of this space, I will also have a seating area and entertainment area in my bedroom. I like for my spaces to feel cozy so I would love to have warm colors on the walls that will match my multiple bedspreads, throws, and decorative pillows. I currently like the color scheme of gray and purple. I would complete the design of my room with a large area rug, preferably one that fits and sticks out from under my bed, curtains, lamps, mirrors and art work to hang on the walls.
For this assignment, I had to utilize Pinterest to create my dream room – for me, this was my bedroom! I have always wanted a huge elegant bedroom, with vaulted ceilings, a chandelier, window seat, and of course a huge walk -in closet! Oh and I can’t forget the fur rug!
I wish everything would embed the way Twitter and Instagram do.
I grew up a military brat. We moved a lot, I always had my own room, but not one I could decorate or anything. And now…now I have a husband and cats, and I’m not sure who is more difficult to share a room with sometimes. So this is…super self-indulgent.
Colors and decor are hard, I love colors. So much. I saw a lot of really lovely space themes, so I’d probably go with that. They also tend to include a lot of low, ambient light, which is important. I get super super bad migraines and cluster headaches, and light sensitivity is a major symptom. So low lighting is important. And I just like fairy lights. Sue me. I am also very clumsy, so there’s a lot of soft cushy decor. Lots of pillows and blanket and soft or round edges. Plus who doesn’t like soft cushy things? I also get cold really easily. Soft things are usually pretty warm. I’m an introvert. If I could make my perfect bedroom I probably wouldn’t leave much. So lots of spaces to lounge would be required. But do like the outdoors (within reason). I like sunlight, and fresh air, and the smell of spring and rain. So I included big windows. I long for windows of any size I can open. Right now, my giant, idiot cats pop the screens off because SQUIRREL!! Or to chase one of the neighborhood cats because HEY STRANGE CAT! F!@K YOU!
I swear I love them.
In the same vein, I love plants. I have a green thumb! So having some nice indoor plants would be wonderful. A chalkboard wall, because I could just write things I need to remember on it and I’d see it. No losing it. I hate dressers. I hate folding clothes. I hate having to unfold clothes to see what they are, and then refolding them. I saw lots of great ideas for hanging everything up. I need lots of shelf space, for books, figures, more books. I like a lot of of photo wall ideas, just because finding the right picture frame and room for all of them is a huge pain. Lots of curtains, because I just like curtains. And they are also good for keeping light out.
I’m a HUGE wannabe decorator. Of course, my college-student budget only allows for so much, which is why this was a fun assignment for me. Pinterest makes me want to have my own house so I can decorate every single inch of it. My room is a place I like to make completely “me”. I love DIY projects, as I like to think I’m crafty…and I am sometimes, but somethings are hard lol. I searched “modern room décor” on Pinterest and then created my own “Dream Room” board. I will most likely be adding more too it, as I love looking at this stuff.
For my second assignment this week, which is this one for 4 and a half stars, is to design my own room using Pinterest as inspiration. I made a board which is a collection of the pictures that would inspire my design of this dream room. Check out my board here.
For this assignment, I had to create a Pinterest account, since I’ve never had one before. I learned, while looking through so much stuff to find stuff for my room that I’m not good at designing something cohesively or looking through Pinterest. Still, it was fun. My desired room has a strange mix of more classy, grown-up objects along with nerdy objects, and I’m not sure if those can go together, but that’s how it goes! I always liked having a day bed, and the style of wooden furniture, and a soft, grey rug, like the one in my pins. It’s similar to my room now, minus the rug, which probably speaks a lot about that. I also would have a great video game setup in my dream room, with a couch and a place to store all my video games and consoles, so I can play with friends. I’d also have a nice desk with triple monitors in this dream world, so I could do my coding on three screens. For my walls, I’ve always liked Van Gough paintings, so I’d like to have posters or canvases of those. Additionally, I’ve always wanted the door of my room to look like a TARDIS from Doctor Who and I loved that picture I found in my pins, with the Death Star and space as an added bonus. Finally, I added in an ice cream machine, since the assignment said to go all out; I really love ice cream, especially soft serve, and who wouldn’t want their own personal ice cream maker in their room?
It was very simple to use Pinterest for this assignment, as you can simply create a ‘board’ for your room and search for stuff to ‘pin’ to your board. I’d recommend this assignment to others!
For this assignment, I created my dream room. This was a total of 4 and a half stars.
In the first picture I like the black shag rug, and the last picture I like the layout of the room and the big window with all the natural lighting. Man, if I had this room I’d be hyyyyype!! That purple door knob is literally a dream and the mosaic stool and the mirror are dreams in their own.
This assignment asked me to make my dream room off of Pinterest. I’ve been waiting for an assignment like this my whole life! I love dream rooms/dream boards!
I would want:
This reading nook
This color wall
This big window
This bed
& this closet!
Preferably with a cat cuddled up on the bed with me!
