In my last post I mentioned that I am planning to construct a palace that will serve my purposes as a spy in the United States. My top secret residence will be a place to plan my operations and also give me a few comforts of home.

In these things it is always important to consider the different amenities that one could or could not include. It is also critical to maintain a humble balance between practicality and luxury. My secret residence must be a fortress, secure from all possible danger as well as comfortable and provide me with the lifestyle that I have grown accustomed to.

As I was planning my [top secret] palace I decided to create a Pinterest board to help with the planning process. Here are the highlights of my  masterpiece, I’ll explain as I go along.

First, there must be entertainment for my off duty days. A bumbl bee roller coaster is my stress reliever of choice because the bee is the symbol of my namesake, Napoléon himself, and I like to think that it is the creature that best represents my secret agent style:

Original assignment

Dream Room? It’s just a dream for now…

This was my first time using Pinterest and signing up for it was a breeze. I created 5 boards, which successfully divided each idea into specific categories. Starting with “Room,” I wanted my bedroom to embody a comfortable atmosphere in which I can just relax and rest. For “Bed,” since I like the color white, I wanted to decorate my bed with mostly white and maybe complement it with a touch of pastel or monotone color such as pink and/or gray. Some sheets looked very cool so I also decided to pin these ideas. For “Chilling area,” I thought that they were awesome ideas for creating another space within the bedroom itself to semi-rest, hence the term, chill. I think the theme here is to have many cushions as possible, making the space feel extra cozy. For “Wall,” I liked these ideas too because they were creatively utilizing the space to its full potential. Not only can these ideas apply toward decorating, but it can also apply toward organization. Finally, “decorations” was something I thought was feasible in a practical manner. Since decorations do enhance the room’s look, I thought that it would be something worth to try without sacrificing too much.

Overall, I thought that Pinterest was a useful tool to organize my thoughts as well as discover new ideas that are both pretty and innovative. My story here is, my dream room would equate to coming home where everything is just relaxing and peaceful, away from the busy life spent during the day.

My second assignment I picked was from the web assignments category  titled “Create Your Own Room”. ” Create Your Own Room ” assignment was to create a blog post about my dream room by using the pictures of furniture , colors, rooms, etc. from the site Pinterest. This assignment is my absolute fave and who wouldn’t agree. You get to design your own dream Room, everybody has one and do not say you don’t.

My dream home is anything that came out of a fairy tale and every time I go into my house, I am in disbelief that this is my own home and not a model home from a magazine. However I want my home to be cozy for family and guest to be able to relax from any hardships. I had no problems picking out the pictures from Pinterest so here are my results for my ideal dream home:

I just had to put this. When I was very little I always said I wanted to live in a castle and even though I grown up, some part of me didn’t and that little kid still wants a “castle”.

I love reading books so I also need space to just be able to put my books instead of stacking them on top of each other like I do now.

This right here is on my top dream list. I have to have a big closet because I love clothes, shoes etc. so I need a bigger area to put my all my stuff.

This shows a swing I would want in my backyard for when in the summertime, My friends and I can just go outside at night and look the endless stars.

Of course I had to have a kitchen or I can not survive. I absolutely love food. I found myself in the kitchen cooking up my next meal of the day.

When there is a kitchen, there is a pantry. You cannot have one without the other. Food needs to be store and I mean a lot of food..

A nice open bedroom is all I need to sleep because a girl needs her beauty sleep. and I love to sleep. Who doesn’t?

I need a spacious living room to fit all my family and I love to have space where everybody is together but still room where everybody has their own space.

Lastly, you need a place other than the bedroom to relax and the Theater room will do just that by allowing me to watch movies and hang out with family and friends.

As an active Pinterest fan, I found that I spend my time scrolling the pictures and dreaming of my future home. This assignment was easy for me since I basically dream about what I can make that can come to life in the distant future. It was hard to pick out the pictures since all of them I want in my house. I found it funny because all my life I dream of the house I wanted, telling my family I going to have this when I grew up or that. However when I tried today to think of the possibilities, I came up blank and could not think of anything but once I narrowed it down to the necessities I want to see in my dream home it became clearer. Although the assignment was ranked 4 stars , I would rank it myself 2 since it took some times getting the pictures but other than that It was a fun assignment to do.

My idea of my dream room, is a cozy room with a fireplace and a great mountain view. Some place that would be quite, and has a air of mystery and would hopefully inspire creative dreams to fuel stories that I could write at a later time. I like have a room upstairs with large windows over looking a view of trees. Dark colors, with wood accents. My dream room would have to be a place that inspires creativity and also a place that will allow me to escape reality when the world begins to overwhelm me.

The goal was to use Pinterest and create a board with your ideal Dream House. I had no problem completing this assignment. I created a pin for my ideal bathroom, garden, kitchen, backyard and living room. I pinned a few different pictures of light tan curtains cabinets that I liked as well as a kitchen scenery. My favorite color is blue so you wont be surprised by the color usage. This was one of my favorite assignments and I look forward to using Pinterest in the near future.

This assignment was worth 4 stars. The goal was to use Pinterest and create a board with your ideal room. I created a board for my ideal kitchen. I pinned a few different pictures of light blue cabinets that I liked as well as a kitchen table, some storage containers and paint/color samples. This was one of my favorite assignments and I hope to do more using Pinterest.

Ideal Kitchen 

For my second assignment, I chose to create my ideal room. Well really it will be my idea back yard because I love to spend time outside and that really is my ideal room. The internet gives us the power to research and look for ideas that we like from other places. In essence that is what pinterest is really all about, sharing creative ideas for the average person! This is great because humans no longer have to visit somewhere else to get an idea. They can do it right in their own living room. I plan on having a house with a lot of character. I really like older rustic stone country homes. So my back drop to my back yard will obviously be that. Off the back I would like a good mix of gardens, grass, and a pool. I have never had a pool growing up and have always wanted one so thats at the top of my list. I would also like to have some sort of outdoor entertainment with a fire pit and grill, maybe even a bar. The possibilities are are endless. So without further gibberish these are the pictures that I found on pinterest for my ideal back yard.

This shows the ideal english garden type back yard with doors that open up to create an extension of the house out on to the pool deck and into the yard where the gardens are.

This would be my outdoor entertainment area with an outdoor kitchen and wine bar.

Somewhere out in the gardens I would like to have a secondary entertainment area with an outdoor fireplace where you can sit in the middle of the gardens.

Somewhere out in the garden I want to build a huge treehouse for the kids because lets be real, if everything else is that nice the kids need their own space to go have fun and be creative.

I chose to do this assignment because I really enjoy thinking about the future and what I plan to do. I cannot wait for the day that I can create something like the images that I have inserted from pinterest here!

This assignment was fairly easy to set up. The hard part was choosing what images to use! Once I created a folder on pinterest, I pinned 15 ideas then went through and chose the ones that I liked the most. From there I saved the pictures to my computer and then inserted them as media on this blog post.

I had SO much fun with this assignment. First off, it uses Pinterest, which I use all the time anyways. Secondly, I love designing rooms so this was great for me. I chose to design my dream bedroom.

 My dream room would have high ceilings, lots of windows, and would be very spacious.

My color scheme of the room would be very cozy and nature-inspired, with light blue walls. I think these colors are really relaxing and are easy to match decorations with.

I love taking pictures and displaying them, so it’s important to me that I have a lot of space to display things that are important to me. I also love making things and designing walls, so I loved the collage wall and picture clip ideas.

This is my favorite part of the room! I would have a corner with a huge reading chair and a bookshelf for all my books.

Here is the rest of my furniture for my room. The rustic look of the furniture would go really well with the overall comfortable theme of the room.

Reflection:

I didn’t run into any problems doing this assignment because I am (too) familiar with Pinterest, but it was pretty time consuming! I have had an idea of what my room would look like if I had an endless amount of money, and this was a fun, creative activity. It reminded me again of the “Show your work” article because it reminded me that you don’t have an artist to be creative, and there are so many ways to show your creativity. This assignment shows how the internet has changed the game for interior design–it is so easy to design a room with the internet!

Here’s how I decided what to pin:

First I decided what type of theme I wanted for my dream room. I love sleeping and relaxing, so I definitely wanted my room to reflect that. I like a rustic theme and that is very comfortable to live in, so I went from there. From there I chose a comfortable paint color I liked, then I picked my furniture, and then I chose the finishing touches and decorations. I was a little nervous about doing these assignments, but this was a fun and doable project for me!
