Writing Assignments

I like to move it move it

Share a moment or memory from your freshman move in day. What was your favorite part? Least favorite? Was it hard saying goodbye? The possibilites are endless!

Instagram is done…DESCRIBE your lunch to me!

Skip the filters and the art of cropping–we are going old school…..DESCRIBE your (or your character’s) lunches! So whatever it is you’re eating or ate earlier, or would love to eat, describe it! Don’t be afraid to be silly, and don’t skimp on the details. What color is it? What does it taste like? What does it remind you of? If you make it into a poem–that would be even better!

Your Name Acrostic Poem

Create an acrostic poem using your name. After you finish your acrostic poem highlight the letters of your first name in red font. Then save your acrostic name poem as a picture and upload it to your flickr account.

Status Report

As part of an agency, it is your duty to summarize your findings for the public. Take all of the group that your agency has done and sum it up. This can be case-by-case or in any other format. Write a detailed synopsis that references the evidence and assignments your team has put together, then draw conclusions.

Focus On The Background

There is the main character and then there are the background characters. Pick a background/side character (or a character that isn’t the main character) from any movie, show, novel, etc. and write a story that stars them. It’s time for them to get the limelight. This story can be about anything you choose but remember to be creative! This character could be having their own adventure or an adventure with the main. The world is your oyster in the assignment!!

Your Last Words

What would your last words be before you die? Choose a word or phrase that you would say moments before you die and create a story leading up to what caused you to say them.

Sharing Credit

This is an assignment for two or more people.

It’s very simple: Take turns writing a collaborative story via email, each writing a minimum of 4 times.

Have fun with it!

Dear Diary….

Write a diary entry from your favorite Disney Villain’s perspective. What did the Evil Queen think of the soup today? How’d she react when a nearby kingdom had their brat prince over for a visit? You decide.

A Story In Alphabet

Create a story that uses words that begin with the letters of the alphabet consecutively. For example, A big cat dug eight… But you have to go all the way to the letter Z. Try to make as much sense as possible. Or if you really can’t, then go crazy. Be creative and have fun!

Write a movie review

Pretty straight forward, write a review of a movie. Don;t be afraid to use images, GIFs, and clips to support your discussion, but focus on the text. Make an argument about the film, no lame thumbs up nonsense.
