Monkey Makeover**

In order for those lovely lady monkeys to look b.e.a.yoo-tee-ful for George, they underwent a makeover via the visual assignment, Make Up Your Pet.

Using Picasa, I opened the photos in Creative Kit and used the decorate tool to add “makeup” to the lady monkeys.  Honestly, it just looks so hilarious and weird at the same time. I’m still not sure what to think about it. But, it served its purpose, and I was able to transform these drab monkeys into model monkeys.

George’s New Look**

This quick and easy visual assignment, Switch Up the Mood, allowed me to spruce up Curious George’s profile picture for his dating site. I used Picasa to edit the photo and take from this:

Since it’s a cartoon picture, there wasn’t as much I could have done with it, had it been a “real” photo.  I think it adds some class to George’s image ;)

Baby Names

WooHoo! It’s final project time! Remember, I’m doing a story on Kate and William’s Royal Baby?? Well here is component number one!

An A-Z collage full of royal baby names. I tried to pick English names and there are all sorts of internet finds for guess of what the Royals will name their baby to be so I incorporated both. Of course I had to through a shameless plug in there and include my name! Kaitlyn, is a pretty great one after all, though it’s Irish…

I found some names via google images and others I made myself in picmonkey. I then uploaded them all to GIMP in layers and organized them. Initially I tried Picmonkey’s collage system, but some of the names were too long and it wasn’t creating the look I wanted. I’m happy with how this turned out!

What do you think the royals will name their baby?

For a girl I’m thinking Alexandra (as are the British). If its a boy then I’m going to go with Phillip (though I used Penelope in the Collage!).

Stay tuned for more as I create more components to my story!

Celebrity Life

For this assignment that I created, I photoshopped a picture of my face on to a picture of Andrea Gibson.  She is an amazing slam poet whose work focuses on a variety of political and social issues.  I can’t listen to a poem of hers without feeling incredibly moved by it – whether it’s to sadness, anger, or laughter, it always incites a reaction.  She is amazing.

This is the picture of her that I used:

Monkey Business

I created a Music Mashup (found in the audio assignment database) of two different songs that were related to monkeys.  Related to my final project and Curious George, these songs are something he’d be interested in!

Immediately, the theme song from George of the Jungle popped into my head, so I found a video on youtube with the theme song and downloaded the mp3 via KeepVid.

I then googled some songs that are related to monkeys, and found  Chuck Berry‘s Too Much Monkey Business.

Using Audacity, I put the two songs together and tried to make a smooth transition between them. Finally, I uploaded the mashup to Soundcloud.

Are You and George Perfect for Each Other?

An option on George’s dating site is a personality quiz. I used the web assignment Pop Quiz to create similarity quiz, via PollSnack.

I made the result options as: You and George are perfect for each other! or You and George were not meant to be.

I created 5 questions based around things George would think about:

  • He loves bananas
  • He likes the color yellow
  • He uses balloons to fly around the city
  • He loves to learn about new things
  • He speaks monkey

Once I made all the questions and answers, the quiz was generated for me.  Are you similar to George?

George’s Dating Profile

George’s new dating adventure began by creating his online profile.  I used the web assignmentStorytelling within the Web, to edit an existing dating profile.

I tried to edit Match profiles for about an hour, but they wouldn’t let me see anyone’s profile without signing up.  When I tried to do that, the process was WAY too long, and at the end, they wanted me to subscribe.  Instead, I used OkCupid, because it’s a free dating site.  I used someone else’s profile to start my editing.

I chose to use Mozilla Hackasaurus’s X-Ray Googles, because I remembered how easy it was to use the earlier this semester. I started with all of George’s info: movies, height, education, what he’s looking for, etc.  Then I gave him a profile picture.  When I was done, the site freaked out and I lost everything. It took me  three tries to finish the editing process, but in the end, it finally worked!

Walking to the Party

For this part of the assignment, Mario, Luigi, and Peach are walking into the festival in Peach’s Castle.  I did everything in Audacity, blending a bunch of sounds together.  Here’s my workspace.

I got all my sound effects from this website http://soundfxcenter.com

And here is the final, complete sound thing.

Buying Tickets

http://p.webremixes.org/rrecaxiu

This was part of my story where Mario and Luigi buy the tickets for the festival.  I edited everything in X-Ray goggles or whatever that web editor was called.  The original assignment was to tell a story within the web and I did that sort of.   Changed a lot of stuff.  Not really hard, but here it is.  Up at the top…

The Festival

I made a moving poster for the festival mario and luigi are going to.  Not really the original assignment, but it works the same.  For this, I took a bunch of things to get it all together.  First, I downloaded this jumping video off of youtube.

Then, I took this image into gimp and made the tomorrowland thing so I could put that over all the jumping stuff.

Then, I cut up the clip of the jumping and loaded that into Gimp to get each frame.  Then I deleted a bunch of them to make the clip easier.  Then I took each clip and pasted the tomorrowland logo into them, saving each one.  After that, I loaded all the images into my gif program and it was complete.
