This assignment (worth three stars) required me to tell a love story in three photos. I used this assignment to tell the story of Ami and John Brown, a handsome, wealthy lawyer from Florida visiting his birthplace, NY, for a few weeks. To create this, I took images from online and used photoshop to create a three section narrative. I made these images high contrast and black and white to incorporate Noir.

John meets Ami in her club when he goes with his business friends for a night on the town. He becomes enthralled with Ami and invites her to come home with him. She accepts the invitation, John being attractive and appearing wealthy. They enjoy a passionate night, but when John wakes up, Ami’s not in the bed. She has left and taken his wallet. He listens to Drake to deal with his resulting sadness while Ami buys a new car.

For this assignment (worth 3 stars), I had to make an album cover through a detailed process for each aspect: title, band, and image. I tweaked this assignment by creating my own image based on what I found as well as Sylvia and Ami‘s relationship. The title was generated by a random quote: “The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.”- Lucille Ball. The band name was from a randomly generated Wikipedia article.  I made the image in Photoshop using silhouettes from online, the gradient tool, and text.

Ami and Sylvia are both femme fatales. I imagine them being best friends in crime, constantly on the hunt to ruin the lives of men. There could even be a possible romantic aspect between the two. I think it would be cute. But mostly, they would probably form a grrrl band, with Ami singing front and Sylvia on drums or guitar. This is their album cover. The band is called Justus || as a play on the words “Just us two,” as they are literally partners in crime. The title of this album reflects their bitingly critical view of patriarchal standards by alluding to the fact that women are EXPECTED to lie about their age.

So for part of my 10 stars of assignments dedicated to my noir character, I decided to do the story map assignment. For all of my assignments this week I wanted to continue to build my noir character by using the themes set in place during my groups radio show “Noir Not the Father”. In our radio show, my character plays a very specific role and I used that role me

This assignment was to take a picture of an everyday use bag and its items. I chose to make a bag that would be in our characters vehicle. I imagine this walmart back of items to be placed in the center console of their truck for back up reasons. The Zest soap would be used just in-case they had to clean up a mess. The two knives are self explanatory as they are both police officers. The silver comb is to tame their flow after they are done chasing down a criminal. Lastly, The icy hot is for those long days of work when they are aching.

For this assignment I am creating the scenario where Melody Bay has sneaked into the radio studio of House of Noir one night to listen to old Sebastian Crane tapes. She would never admit it but she finds his voice mesmerizing and enthralling. In a moment of creative weakness she decides to create this valentine for the lovely heart-breaker if she could have him on her turf.

Immediately upon finishing this she destroyed any evidence that it ever existed.

For this I, as Melody Bay, created my self portrait as an homage to Sasha Kellogg. This woman who survived great family tragedy and still managed to thrive and present herself with poise and grace. MB cannot bear to stray far from where her mother left her. Drawn to the memories the town holds. Sasha ran away from her memories, for good reason, but MB still envious that this woman was able to escape her circumstance victorious.

The characters this assignment involves is Dalina’s Rose King and my own Melody Bay. Both women are artists, one a singer the other a painter, and both are trapped in their hometown. Rose because she does not have the money to leave, Melody Bay because she cannot leave the memories of her childhood.

The last assignment that we did was called Make My Day worth 3 stars. Chelsea and I did this one together as an alternative ending to our radio show. This would be as if Shadow and Caleb did not die and they did one more heist together so they could run away and live happily. Here is an illustrated list of the best day for them.
