Picture Glow Up

For this assignment, I found it relatively easy as on this day it was a quite typical gloomy Winter day. I also happened to snap a photo of the day outside due to a photoblitz assignment. With adobe lightroom, I transformed my gloomy day into a brighter fall day by using the saturation, temperature and exposure functions. The mood went from a winter day, to fall.

(I once again had technical difficulties with uploading these photos, so I decided to post these photos on twitter so my followers can also view this assignment)

Same Old, Same Old

Out of all the visual assignments, this one had to be one of my favorites. I had an excuse to go back into my family’s vault of pictures and look through memories from when I was a child. I had not done this in years and instead of just finding a simple photo from the past, my family and I spent hours just laughing and looking at old photos that brought up the best memories. I used these photos as coincidentally, I managed to take this photo last weekend after visiting a family friend who’s neighbor owns goats.

When I found this photo of when I was a child, I thought it would be great to use these photos to show how much I’ve grown, but at the same time that I still wear that cheesy smile on my face and am just as goofy as I was when I was a child.

A picture of me at 5 years old, vs 20 years old.

I had some technical difficulties while trying to upload both photos, so I decided to post on Instagram to resolve the issue. Now, my classmates can also check out my assignment on that platform as well.

That’s Not What I Expected

This prompt involved taking a picture of an item from a strange angle or just really stinking close, to see if people can guess what it is. This is my final Visual Assignment of the week and I am not going to lie, I’m at work (don’t tell my boss) so I was at the mercy of office related items. I roamed around a little, took some picture but then this small. shiny, and reflective item caught my attention. Can you guess what it might be?

Looking At Yourself

Inspired by my previous assignment, I decided to make a self portrait out of shapes. I really liked this approach, as it was very simple but still looked good.

Titanic Queens and King

For this assignment, I actually ended up finding a picture from around 2 years ago recreating the famous Jack and Rose pose from the movie Titanic, with my nephew and cousin. We were actually on board The Queen Mary, which is a very close comparison to the ship Titanic, and is considered her sister. One of my favorite spots to visit every time we head over to California, as it is now permanently docked in Long Beach.

Madonna Spotted in Fredericksburg

For this assignment, I had some fun making it and used some creativity to make it funny, or at least I find it funny. I had the idea to use Madonna since she is an 80s icon, however it made it difficult to try to find a place where she would unlikely be, as I feel she was so unpredictable and could be anywhere. While I was making this assignment however, I actually was in the coffee shop Hyperion located in Downtown Fredericksburg, and it hit me! Madonna would most likely not be at Hyperion, and thus viola! Enjoy this photo of Madonna at Hyperion. I created this image on photoshop adobe and using the cut and paste tool, I added this photo of Madonna to the background.

You in Collage Form

This was fun. and I may have got a little carried away with it. Being a feminist is a huge part of my social identity so I wanted to focus on highlighting that. I started by find a bunch of individual images (I didn’t use them all but I wanted to the option) before working them into one collage as they seemed fit. Admittedly, I asked my previous instructor who talk my graphic arts class for a little help with this one because my skills were really rusty on an assignment of this scale. In the end I really love the way this turned out.

4 Lines, 5 Dots, 1 Curve

Here is a picture of a Dog I drew. Im no artist but I was pretty pleased with how this turned out

Concert You Want to be At

Maybe you have noticed but I kinddddda love Cyndi Lauper so obviously if I had the opportunity to attend any concert it would be a Lauper concert. I started by finding a picture of a Cyndi Lauper concert and I decided on this one, which yes, I know is not from the 80’s (hence the cellphone) but cut me some slack, decent concert photos from that era are a bit difficult to find/work with.

I hate taking my picture so I dug up photo from over the summer that I though would work to capture my enthusiasm for Cyndi Lauper.

It took a little brain power to figure out sizing and yeah I’m a little small but overall, it makes me giggle so I guess that’s good.
