The Terminator in A Fairytale

When hunting Sarah Connor, the Terminator can sometimes make the wrong turn. For this visual assignment, we had to take a 1980s star and put them somewhere we would never see them. I used photoshop to place Arnold Schwarzenegger from the 1984 classic The Terminator. The movie is very dark so I figured I’d place him in a very fairytale setting. Maybe Sarah Connor can use this time to figure to how to stop him.

Combophoto

Splicing two pictures together really led me down a weird path on this assignment. I created a brand new instrument, the Acoustic Squashtar™. I pondered for a bit, wondering what two items I could splice together and I immediately knew I wanted to turn something into a guitar. So I took the neck of an acoustic guitar and thought of what “acoustic-shaped” objects existed. I found a great picture of a squash and knew I hit gold. I used my photoshop app to cut off the body of the guitar and the stem of the squash. I then positioned them on top of one another to create a masterpiece. this assignment was a fun expression of creativity and challenging use of photoshop.

Who Said What

When asked to combine 3 different but similar spies together for one fantastic meme, you can’t not use James Bond. In accordance with our 1980s theme this semester I wanted to use a James Bond from the 1980s. After finding the perfect image and creating the perfect wrong-dimension meme, I realized the man pictured above is actually Sean Connery from the 1964 James Bond film GoldFinger. I do know, for a fact, that Jack Flack is from the 1984 spy movie Cloak and Dagger. The quote itself is from Daniel Craig, the latest actor playing James Bond and I used Keynote to create the meme. I love a good meme.

Chimeratic Composition

A crazy dragon defending a castle from aliens, circa 2455 B.C.

This piece was a lot of fun to photoshop. Believe it or not, I did not actually take this photo. Wild, I know. I scoured the interweb to first find a really interesting background. I stumbled upon this really cool picture somebody actually took of some sort of old castle structure. I then found a picture of a sitting dragon and a UFO to add some flare. Photoshopping the dragon took a really long time to delete the background of but I think he and the UFO came out pretty cool.

Acrostic Pictures

Below I will explain why I chose each word:

Law for L: I plan to be a lawyer and go to law school!

Adventurous for A: I really enjoy hiking and doing things on a whim so I felt like this was fitting.

Unique for U: well, I could not think of anything and I asked my best friend to describe me using a U word and this is what she said.

RBG for R: Ruth Bader Ginsberg Is My Idol!!!

Eagle for E: As a UMW Eagle, I felt it should be represented.

Nuts for N: I have to tell everyone I meet that I’m deathly allergic to nuts!

And that’s me in a NUT shell, hehe!

Journey To Somewhere: Roadtrip Edition

I chose to do this assignment because it allowed me to plan a dream vacation! I put so much time into planning this slideshow for this post, I want to take it!

What are you doing here?

For my last visual assignment I decided to do, Pop Star out of Place. For this assignment I wanted to take a pop star from the 80s and put them somewhere that they would not typically be. I decided to do Whitney Houston and to put her in the desert. I was really excited to try my skills again at photoshop since I found it really hard to do it the first time. This time was. a lot easier and I felt like I learn a lot.

I first started by grabbing a picture of the desert and Whitney Houston from the Internet. I browsed around for a little bit before I landed on both of the of the images I would be using. Then I used a photo editing app called Pixlr X, which was super easy to use! I edit them together and I am really excited how the end result turned out!

My Favorite Picture

This assignments is pretty simple. You choose a photo you’ve captured and tell everyone why you love it so much.

I was trying to find a photo I took while in high school (2004) of a ferris wheel at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ. That is my absolute favorite image I’ve captured. Unfortunately, I was unable to find it. Instead, I’m sharing a photo of my daughter that I took on her first birthday.

It’s really hard for me to take photos of her since she is a runner, but during this occasion I had her trapped in a swing. In this moment of the clicking of the camera to achieve this image, it seems everything lined up and the photography gods blessed me with a great photo that I love to look at. The way the setting sun shines on her head is perfect. It seems to create this glowing halo that continues to her eyes and makes them look clear. Her slightly raised eyebrow makes her look thoughtful about what I’m doing with my camera, while she remains content with her momma pushing the swing. Even the giraffe seems to be smiling. Also, on what was a really busy park day, I managed to capture her alone, with no other subjects in the frame. Something that rarely occurs during our visits to the park. The glint of her new bottom teeth is precious, as she knocked one out that very weekend leaving this as the last photo we have of her showing her perfect bottom teeth. All newer photos show a playful gap on the bottom right of her gums.

For the Love of Ruby!

I took all of my favorite pictures of Ruby and made it into a collage for this assignment!

What’s in my purse!

For my second to last visual assignment this week, I decided to do What’s in your bag? However, I wanted to do this as if I was an early 20 year old in the 80’s. I first stated off this assignment by thinking na researching different make-up or beauty products from the 80’s. Then I just thought of other thins an early 20 year old would need in her purse. This is a list of thins that would be in my purse if I lived in the 80s!

The first thing I thought would be in my purse would be some barrettes. This is something that a lot of people in the 80s would wear in there hair and they are so easy to just put into you hair to spice up a hair look.

The next thing that would be in my purse if I lived in the 80s would a bright colored eye shadow pallet. I currently always have an eye shadow pallet in my purse in case I need to touch something up, so since bright colored eye shadow was such a thing in the 80s, I figured I would have to have a pallet in my purse.

Another thing that I would have in my purse would be some scrunchies. I always have something to put my hair up in my purse because I really hate having my hair down when I am either eating or doing work. Scrunchies were such a thing of the 80s and I’m so glad that they are coming back into style!

The last thing I would have in my purse would be, a bottle of hair spray. You never know when you need to touch up your hair and since big hair was such a thing of the 80s I’m sure I would need some hairspray on me at all times in case of an emergency.

This assignment was really fun!
