Web Assignments – Create Your Own Room

I’m gonna admit, I used a friends pinterest account to gain access to their website. This is because I’m tired of creating all these darn accounts and trying to keep up with them. I’m a simple person, and I guess this can be conveyed into my dream room. I screen shot each image I found on pinterest as well as embeded the link to the website with the photo.

Of course I’d want a hammock bed in my room. Those things are soooo comfortable.

Throw in some candles and fun lanterns

And some wide open windows. That’s all I need.

This is the Webpage for Andy the Bankrobber.

This was difficult to get a clear image of my created webpage.

Google Map Trip

Google Map

This is the trip that Andy the bank robber took to rob three banks in the west.

He began his trip with the Bank of Denver, then he traveled to the Bank of Albuquerque, then the Bank of Arizona.  These banks allowed for him to collect over $500,000.

This assignment required me to search for banks in the west that would have applied to the story.  I struggled with getting a clear a picture of the google maps.

This these are the three accounts that Andy the Bank Robber on the internet.

This assignment was difficult in making sure that they all have similar connections to each other and were able to reflect a character from a time period before there was an internet.

Web Assignment – Three Moon Wolf Stories

This assignment has you create a story using an Amazon review. To find a product to review, I used the Random Amazon Product website, searching until I found something interesting enough. I ended up with this adjustable tree pruner, and it looked like a weapon to me, so I made up a fake review posing as a “tree” cutting enthusiast. I did actually submit the review, but it takes time to process, so I just used X-Ray to simulate what I wrote out until then. chrome_2016-04-15_21-02-26

You’re the New Sheriff

For this assignment, I had to create a multi-level story using the website Inklewriter. This story is about you, the new sheriff in the town of Baddon, a place so tough they had to call you in from miles away. What’s going to happen, now that you’re here? You’ll have to play to find out!

I wasn’t too sure about this assignment, since writing anything with multiple endings sounds like a massive headache. In fact, it did take me at least two hours to write (and I didn’t revise it very thoroughly), but it was a lot of fun! I was initially going to use a different story that I already sort of had planned out, but that one was too linear and needed too much explanation. So instead, I thought I’d run with a bit more of the Western theme and wrote something about a sheriff coming into a bad town.

Enjoy the story! Hopefully you get the good ending.

Frequently Asked Questions

The three and a half star assignment Personal Search Engine wasn’t too hard to complete.

I used X-Ray Goggles to alter a preexisting search engine.

The google search page was edited to resemble my product seen above.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 18.51.51

I played with the page until it was pretty bare, and I added a couple icons. In reality the icons represent nothing. I just threw them there for scenery. When clicked on, they don’t actually link to anything. All of the other buttons should be functional and self explanatory.

I changed the Google image to Frequently Asked Questions because Google has transformed from a search engine where relevant links pop up in response to queries to an engine that can almost certainly answer questions you type into it.

Create Your Own Room

For this assigment worth 4 stars, we were supposed to create our dream room from pinterest pictures. I chose to do this of Harry from Harry Potter’s dream room, because I took it upon myself to do an entirely Harry Potter themed Web assignments week, and I had a lot of fun with it.

This took me about fifteen minutes to do, because I have my own pinterest account and know how to work it well, and know the Harry Potter books really well so I thought I’d know what Harry would like.

Here are the pictures of the things that Harry would like in his dream room!

How the Andes Began

I’m applying the four and a half star assignment How It All Began to this webpage. It directs us to detail the conglomeration of a group.

I’ve chosen to describe how the Andean Volcanic Belt, which is composed of the Northern Volcanic Zone, Central Volcanic Zone, and Southern Volcanic Zone, came together.

During the Cambrian Period the Nazca plate started to subduct beneath western South America. This resulted in a continental arc environment known as the Andes Mountains. The Nazca plate’s subduction beneath South America has given birth to three volcanic belts: the Northern, Central, and Southern Volcanic Zones.

The formation of these zones began during the collision of two lithospheric plates. The denser plate, which was the Nazca plate, subducted below the less dense plate. While subducting, the denser plate, which is seafloor, dehydrates over a range of depths up to around 100km releasing aqueous fluids. These fluids are large ion lithophile rich and flow into the overlying mantle wedge, enriching it. Pargasitic amphibole is considered to be the central storage site for water in the hydrated mantle wedge. This mantle wedge is dragged down by the subducting slab where it eventually encounters isotherms which heat it. Being heated, the mantle becomes magma due a depressed melting point derived from hydration. The magma flows upwards becoming more buoyant as crystals fractionate out and decompression melting occurs, furthering its melt content. The extrusion of this magma at the surface of the earth rapidly cools the molten rock. Over time this repeated process created the Andes Mountains.

Part of a test I had a couple weeks ago dealt with continental arc formation. When I read this assignment, the first group to come to mind was the Andes Mountains.

Web Weaving

I completed the four star assignment Harness Relationships: Make a Map with Kumu

The assignment asks us to organize information into a web map. I chose to organize the lifecycle of rocks into a web map.

Screen Shot 2016-04-15 at 17.49.50

In this assignment I organized existing information about the relationship between rocks and their environment to create a map.

I chose to base my map around the rock lifecycle because my major is geology. This cycle can be complex with regard to all of the thermodynamic, applied stress and chemical reactions, etc. But all of those reactions can be represented by such a simple two dimensional web map.
