I chose to complete this assignment because the image of the paint brush sparked some good memories for me. The image reminded me of a painting software that I used while in elementary school during computer time and I always enjoyed my time playing with it. So, I thought it would be fun to try to find a similar online computer art tool. So, while completing my daily create the other day I found the online tool I wanted share with you. I call it the Triangle painter! It is very similar to the painting software I previously used but instead of painting just lines, it will only paint using triangles. It is really fun to use and actually for me, when I gave it a try it was a nice little break that I found to be relaxing. The triangle tool can be found here and you can give it a try! It is a pretty simple and straight forward tool to use. As such, in order to use it you first must choose the size of your triangle grid for your image, then you can choose the color you would like to start your piece of artwork with. You do this by clicking in the lower left corner where you see the square box of color (typically black when you open up the tool). Once you click on this, a box should pop up that provides you with many more color options. Once you have your chosen color you can begin painting and to change the color just go back and click on the color box in the corner. If you make a mistake don’t worry, you won’t have to start over. Just use the eraser by clicking on the eraser icon next to the color box in the left corner of the screen. It may seem simple to draw what you would like, but by only painting triangles it makes it a bit trickier to paint what you were aiming for! This tool is great if you need to create a small image or painting for a class assignment or if you just want to take a few minutes to relax and have a little fun. To give you an idea of what a picture created by this tool would look like I added an image below that I created using the triangle tool!

I chose to complete this assignment because I like to complete assignments that involve my created western character, Talie. For this assignment I had to develop a “fake” resume for a fictional person or character as such, I created a resume for Talie, the western character I created for this course. You can read more about Talie here. I had quite a bit of fun creating her resume. For her background/profile I chose a western themed address and an easy email for her to remember. Her skills and abilities revolve around what she studied and researched while in college and what she has learned by working on a ranch throughout her life. For her experience, I put that she works for the EPA monitoring and regulating pesticide and fertilizer use on surrounding Arizona ranches and farms and she also works on her own ranch. I thought these jobs were fitting for a rancher who majored in Agricultural sciences and Natural Resources. As such, for her schooling I wrote that she attended Purdue University which is a well-known university. Since Talie is the owner and operator of her ranch and sells Milk products to the local stores I figured a good leadership example is that she is the President of her own company, the Talie Smith Milk Company. For references I created a similar western character who owns the Tractor store, named Billy Bob. So, if you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in Agricultural activities, Talie is your girl! See her resume below!

To start off this weeks worth of web assignments I made a BuzzFeed Quiz. I just had to join the community and make the quiz. It took a lot longer than I thought it would since I had to download all the images from Google. Also coming up with a topic was quite a bit of brainstorming but I got it. I did realize that one of my answers didn’t come up so it’s just a picture. It should say “I am if I want to win”.

This assignment was worth 4.5 stars.

The first web assignment I selected this week was Google Translate Fail which was worth 3 1/2 stars. For this assignment were had to find something in a foreign language and then use Google Translate to laugh about it. Below is how I did this:
First, I selected a well known English saying and plugged it into Google Translate:

After this I translated the saying into Japanese:

Once translated, I moved the saying back into the left side of the translate box and then translated it back to English.

This confirms for me how bad Google Translate is! It mixed up the saying almost completely and now it makes no sense! I am happy with how this turned out!

So, for this assignment, I reviewed a plethora of the characters from fellow ds106ers and pulled out a couple that I thought I could get into their mind the best. I typified their personas a bit, but isn’t that the point of a buzzfeed quiz? I created 4 questions to try and prevent ties, but in retrospect, 5 would have been best.  The hardest part of the assignment was trying to find out how to embed a buzzfeed post, but I never did figure it out. In the process, I found a few ways to just make the quizzes though word press, so if I develop the quiz more, I might try that instead. All I could do is post it to twitter and then embed it. That is probably better anyway because more people might see it now and actually be able to take it.

For this assignment, I had to create a resume for my created character of Buck Smith. It was actually quite easier than I expected because I just used the template that I already had for my own resume still saved on my computer.

All I had to do was erase all of my personal  information from the template, and then fill it in with information that I thought up. I didn’t want the resume to be boring, so I tried to make awards that were sort of silly. I just would think up something that I felt would be included in Buck’s resume and tried to include it. The only thing in the resume that I really had to think about was his education. I decided that Buck being homeschooled would build a stronger bond with his father, who is the sheriff, and would probably be the norm in western communities. Then I chose a university out west that Buck could attend, because Buck should be smart to pull off portraying his dad all the time. The last thing I did for the resume was come up with clubs and activities that Buck would do in college; since he wanted to go into law enforcement, I tried to place Buck into clubs/activities that are well-respected.

To conclude, it was fun trying to expand the character of Buck by making him a resume.

Create Your Own Room

I thought this assignment would be easy, all I’ve ever wanted to do is build and create my own house, including the bedroom! however, I forgot how indecisive i am… This assignment really interests me because ever since i was young I used to move house every two years, meaning i got a new bedroom to redecorate every two years, and i loved it. I used to plan it out to the extreme, being given budgets of my dad i would find the perfect wallpaper and some fresh new bedding, everything would have to look perfect.

So for this assignment I created a new board on Pinterest called ‘dream room‘ and basically searched every thing i would ever dream of having in one room.

To describe in one word what i like my dream room to be like it:
COSY

First things first, for any room to have the ‘wow’ factor, it needs a view. End of discussion.
Whether that’s a view of the sea side

A snowy forest,

The big bright lights of the city,

Or who said simplicity was bad?

I’m glad that’s out the way now, now a colour scheme, i like, no love! Really simplistic colours, i like greys and blue’s, golds and pink, I like everything to be quite subtle.

Now the real business starts, bed, my bed had to be the cosiest thing going, i like the puffiest duvet, fur throws, lots of pillows. I told you i like my comfort.

1. I love everything about this bed, the headboard, the throw, the cushions, and i love white bed sheets, however many chocolate milkshakes i spill in them…

2. Now you can’t tell me that wouldn’t be the cosiest thing ever?! to have a fire place right next to your bed? oh and a cute little dog on your bed…

3. Do i need to say anything, its simplistic yet so wonderful, i think i need to invest in a fur bed throw now…

The few last important things that make a room yours, are the decorations, I either have loads or none, i feel like there just no happy medium for me with decorations.

1. I think fairly lights can make any room look cosy, with your awesome view and your fireplace, I don’t see how you could want to be anywhere else?!

2. If you didn’t know already, I love traveling, and i couldn’t find a better way to express my love than this big map, and hanging pictures or quotes of the places you’ve been.

3. I wish my bed side table was this organised, no chance! However I love the idea of putting the extension cord in your draw, no mess and everything is right there where you need it, very handy!

4. Finally, as i said before I love the fairly lights, not fairly lights hanging up photographs of my adventures and loved ones, now thats a winner.
