911, What’s Your Emergency?

Most people don’t get to call 911, and you never get to call 911 unless it’s a true emergency. Well here’s your chance to “Call 911” and have some fun! Create a recording of how you think a 911 call would play out. It doesn’t have to be a real emergency at all! Operator: “What’s your emergency?” Caller: “THERES NO PEANUT BUTTER FOR PB&J SAMMICHES!!!!” Get creative!

Budding Entrepreneur

You just came up with a million dollar idea! It’s crazy! Design a mock-up to show potential investors to entice them to join your entrepreneurial venture for a most unlikely product. You can be pitching to a pre-existing firm or founding your own company. See how well you can sell something like garlic flavored chewing gum or a talking toilet seat.

Inappropriate Laughter

Mashup a scene from your favor serious movie with a laugh track. You can find some appropriate laugh tracks on freesounds.org. Download a clip of the scene, and compile the laughter track within the audio, keeping in mind that you are trying to change the meaning or the scene by introducing laughter. What is the story now?

GIF Animate Your Day Like Ben

Ben Rimes regularly takes a day (February 2012 and December 2012) to capture key moments each as an animated GIF – as you go through a day look around and identify places, moments, things that are well represented in the infinite looping form. Assemble at least 5 of them to capture the essences of your day, start to end and publish as a single blog post, with narrative.

For this assignment, you have to pay it forward SOFTWARE EDITION. In this class, we’ve had to use a lot of softwares to complete many assignments, so pick one that you love using and make a quick video for it. This way, other DS106 students in the future would know where to find these softwares if they needed to use any of them.

Don’t you hate how some movies just leave you hanging!! Do you ever wonder what happens to the characters next? Well this is your chance to let the world know where they are today! Choose a movie and then create some type of video update on the characters current life. Use pictures, video clips, drawings; whatever you want and compile them into a video.

Do you care about a current issue in our society and want others to be aware of it too?? Well here is your chance! Pick (or make up) some type of issue. Create a video public service announcement to promote the issue you would like to be resolved! You can be as serious as you want or as silly as you want! Just have fun with it!
