Be your own bestie

This assignment was harder than it looked. In my head I was like oh this will surely be easy. I was dead wrong lol. I was either moving too fast or not fast enough so they phone cut off my photo and I was left will a partial panorama. It took a solid chunk of time before I was able to capture this beauty. I used my phone camera and chose the panorama option and got to work.

The story behind this photo is that were arguing. Clearly something happened to Ron the cow because he was smushed. One version of me makes it known that the cow is not the favorite squishmallow and that the turkey is the best. So when the other version of me came back to the apartment to find Ron smushed, I knew we had to have a chat. The chat was not meant to turn into an argument but it escalated quick and soon I was pointing figures accusing me of smushing Ron the cow.

I enjoyed this assignment altogether and creating this photo! I have a couple super hilarious outtakes as well.

Famous Movie Poster

The Breakup-anator!!!

Right person, wrong time – ANATOR!

I saw this assignment and it really caught my eye. For this assignment I chose La La Land and wanted to make it silly by incorporating some famous Phinneas and Ferb icons. Cleary I had to put Dr. Doofenschmirtz and Doofenschmirtz Evil Inc. I had the movie poster and then I edidted in the images of the building, blimp, and Doof himself by removing their backgrounds and layering them on top of the base (movie poster). Once I had them layered the way I wanted them, I went back and edited the brightness of the building. I struggled a little with this because it didn’t quite match the background poster but I did what I could. Overall I think this assignment was really fun and I learned how to become better with layering different objects. I could definitely have done better to make it fit more by changing the lightening of the objects and trying to make it look like it belonged there originally. This poster is really funny and also could be used to tell a story maybe for future assignments! I would give this assignment a 9/10 highly recommend!!!!!

Killer Birds Descend Upon Us

Decorative Image

In a moment no one could have predicted, killer birds descended upon campus. Faculty and staff have attempted to chase away these birds but to no avail. The birds seem here to stay whether we want them or not.

One brave student attempted to paint these birds and reported that the birds were far from the happy little subjects they have painted in the past while watching Bob Ross. “They are pure evil,” said the student, “if pure evil came in bird form.” The next day the student disappeared after the birds attacked them.

Assignment

The assignment, Color Changer, was worth 2.5 stars. In it, I had to change the color of a photo.

I accomplished this much like I did DreamScape. Admittedly, I played around with the settings in order to make the birds look more menacing instead of simply changing the color.

Anyways the original birds were killer enough. This is the second time I’ve been walking and have been distracted by random birds on campus.

We All See the Bars

The prompt

I’m not going to lie, I chose this prompt because it looked easy. Then I realized I would somehow have to take a “bad” photo on purpose. I’m not good at that. I ended up taking this with my hand on the chain link fence on Ball Circle as it was getting dark and the fog was rolling in. I ran out in between showers to take it. It’s definitely cliche and doesn’t serve much of a purpose existing. It’s too serious, you know? Very “I’m Fourteen And This Is Deep.”

So I kept with that cringey theme. I uploaded the photo to Canva (I may have screwed this part up. Canva didn’t have Helvetica so I was stuck with Helveticish) and added the text and retro filter. I tried to come up with something thirteen-year-old me would think was deep and clever, when really it’s a cringey, pointless thing to say. I also wanted to stick with the theme of the fence. This is what I ended up with.

We all see the bars, but do we know who is on the wrong side of the cage?

Cringey? Yes. Edgy? Yes, in the way middle schoolers are. But it answered the prompt, and the rest is my world. I get to make the decisions.

Earth

“Using Adobe photoshop or a comporable program, create a clipping mask with text. Use an image from earth or grass and use the lasso or selection tool to add blades of grass outside the mask. Add a drop shadow or bugs to make it appear more realistic. “

I’m pretty decent with photoshop, obviously not the best, but this is my attempt at this visual assignment. Definitely put my photoshop skills to practice!

Spot The Difference

The prompt

Spot the difference! My desk is a mess, so when I saw one of the prompts was to make a spot-the-difference, I was all in. I tried to keep my camera steady and not change the angle between photos, but I wasn’t super successful. Things like my planner and my bird painting are differences, yes, but they aren’t the one you’re meant to find.

My desk is a mess. It makes something like this really easy. I just leaned back from where I was working and snapped the photo. Honestly, the hardest part of this assignment is coming up with what to say about it in the write up. I just took a picture of where I was, moved something, and took another picture. But it does make a good “I Spy.”

Switch Up The Mood

The prompt

Original Bed Photo
Edited Bed Photo

Here we have the unedited and then edited photos of my bed, which change the mood. The unedited one is normal looking, somewhat inviting on a cold, rainy day like this but nothing special. The edited one I wanted to make more magical. I used the editing tools on my phone to up the exposure, brilliance, highlights, shadows, brightness, saturation, vibrance, noise reduction, and warmth while decreasing the black point and contrast. I also added a strong white vignette to the edge. The result was more magical, but it also gives me a World War II era old-timey feel. I think that might just be my floral bedspread and the crocheted blanket my grandma made for me, though.

Apocalypse Training Camp

The prompt

The poster:

Apocalypse Training Camp

I only ever did Girl Scout day camps when I was younger (most of them at Algonkian Regional Park) but I thought something with a more intense theme than “animals” or “princesses” would be cool. I’ve started thinking more about the apocalypse and what I would do to survive. I have a journal with instructions on how to do everything from filter water to make cheese so that if everything falls apart, I will at least know how to survive. I just thought an apocalypse survival camp would be cool.

The poster wasn’t too difficult to make, I used Canva to design it and then put the finished product on Flickr. The hardest parts were finding a cool idea for a camp, and choosing a font that was apocalypse-y but still legible.

That’s Not What I Expected

The prompt

The photo:

Close-Up

The prompt says you should guess what it is, so write in the comments what you think it is and then come back. There’s a photo of what this is in full further down but just ignore it. Scroll fast. You did it? You’re back? Good.

This is a closeup of a paint-by-number I finished last night. I shot from the very bottom of the painting where it as hanging on my wall and pointed straight up. The full painting is of a busy cafe at night. I spent weeks working on painting it so I’m really proud of it now that it’s done and I wanted to show it off. Also, it made a neat closeup. I didn’t crop it or anything, I left all the clues there. I think it’s fairly easy to guess that it’s a painting of some kind, but it’s more difficult to guess what it could be a painting of, especially because the colors aren’t particularly realistic. I also ignored some of the lines and color suggestions and made it my own a bit. Bob Ross would be proud that I made it my own world. Here it is in its entirety:

The Paint-By-Number I did
